Colombian teens visit the Upper Peninsula

Fifteen girls from Colombia are celebrating their QuinceaÃera, or Sweet 15, with a visit to the U.P. QuinceaÃeras are a lavish celebration to honor a girl's coming of age, a tradition celebrated throughout Latin America.

On Sunday they visited Snowy Plains Kennel in Gwinn and learned how to dog sled. It's all part of Viajes de Quince, an agency out of Bogota, Colombia, that organizes trips across the world for girls celebrating their Sweet 15.

So far, the group has gone snowmobiling, skiing, and skating. Trips like this help the girls learn about other cultures.

This was the first time the girls experienced snow.

"It's amazing because I love dogs and the experience is unforgettable. It was amazing! I don't have words because it's incredible," said Laura Serrano.

"I really want to to come back with my parents. They will love it," said Ana Valeria Garcia.

The group will be staying five days in the U.P. with each day offering a different activity.
