      Community coming together for healing

Clergy from various faiths inside and outside Detroit will hold a prayer service for a motorist brutally beaten by a mob after he struck a boy who stepped from a curb in front of his pickup truck.

The "A Night of Healing" program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Historic Little Rock Baptist Church in Detroit.

A news release says the family of 54-year-old Steve Utash will attend the program. Mayor Mike Duggan also is expected to attend.

Utash suffered severe head injuries when at least six people beat and kicked him April 2 when he stopped to help 10-year-old David Harris on Detroit's east side. Utash remains hospitalized. The boy was treated for a leg and other injuries.

Five people, including two teens have been arrested.
