Around 280 participants took part in the 12th annual Upper Michigan Safety Conference at Bay College in Escanaba.
The keynote speaker for this year's conference was Steve Baril, who works for Cliffs as a mine safety professional. He shared his experiences in national disaster management and disaster response.
Some of the audience members are business people and health care workers. They learned about a variety of topics like fire extinguisher training and hazardous material transportation.
"You get to share best practices, learn from others and what they've done. You don't want to make mistakes along the way, so it's nice to see what others are doing and learn from that," said Steve Baril.
The Upper Michigan Safety Conference is hosted by the MTEC at Bay College.
