Construction at Aspen Ridge School will be finished by the time school starts this fall. Projects at the school include remodeling the office, updating bathrooms, and adding two new middle school classrooms. The construction cost around $750,000 from the school's sinking fund. Administrators say one of their main objectives was to add more security to the school.
"This is the second and final phase of securing our campus," Superintendent of NICE Community Schools Bryan DeAugustine said. "So now from kindergarten through the 12th grade visitors have to be seen and physically check into the offices to enter our campus which makes us feel really good about the safety of our students."
The school district has plans to upgrade other areas of their buildings. Plans for next year include renovations to locker rooms and bathrooms at Westwood High School.
