The Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the presence of a radio collared cougar in Houghton County on November 13.
The animal was captured on a trail camera, and DNR officials believe it is the same animal that was spotted on two other occasions.
"This is the third time this animal has been captured on trail cameras in the Upper Peninsula," said DNR Cougar Team Wildlife Biologist Adam Bump. "The Wisconsin DNR earlier verified two trail camera pictures of this cat as it passed through Wisconsin on its way to the U.P."
The DNR also verified cougar tracks in southern Keweenaw County on November 20.
The Department of Natural Resources is still trying to track down where the animal is from. They are checking radio frequencies from South Dakota, Utah and Montana.
