Authorities say that a Kent County commissioner was arrested on multiple sexual assault charges outside a county meeting.
MLive.com (http://bit.ly/1aJz24C ) says that officers arrested Gary L. Rolls, Jr. on Thursday. It says a Muskegon woman accused him of sexual abuse that began when she was nine years old.
Ionia County Prosecutor Ron Schaefer is handling the case because of a potential conflict with Kent County prosecutors.
Schaefer says in a statement that the charges against the 47-year-old lawmaker include four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, as well as using a computer to commit a crime and tampering with evidence.
MLive.com reports that a lawyer for the Grattan Township lawmaker says the accusations are untrue.
The Ionia prosecutor's office said it had no immediate information Thursday on Rolls' court appearance.
