A Baraga County man accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend's baby has been cleared by the judge.
James Thomas Cribbs was charged with first degree child abuse. He maintained his innocence and was granted a bench trial.
After reviewing the testimony and the written closures by both the prosecution and defense, the Honorable Charles R. Goodman, of the Baraga County Circuit Court, came to the verdict of not guilty.
The judge felt that there was reasonable doubt that Cribbs intended to cause serious injury to the child and reasonable doubt that Cribbs knew the girl would be harmed by his actions.
