Crystal Falls man takes 100th deer

A generous 87-year-old Crystal Falls man is making news in Iron County after shooting his 100th deer. Don Boulanger has been an avid hunter for most of his life and this week finally reached his goal of shooting his 100th deer, in which he used a bow. When Sommer's Sausage Shop in Crystal Falls heard about it, they offered to process the deer for free, which, in turn, led Don to donate the venison to the local food pantry. "I hunted opening morning for about four hours, saw two turkeys and a blue jay, but in the afternoon, we got this nice deer right about 6:30," said Boulanger.

Don has kept an extensive diary of all the deer he's shot over the years, and he is also an author of short stories and an autobiography. He says he hopes to keep hunting as long as he can.
