On Sunday, at least 75 cyclists participated in their first cyclocross race for the month of November at the Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming.
The first race was timed and required bikers to take as many laps as they could around a course within 30 minutes.
"I think one of the bonuses of cyclocross is that it's shorter in duration so you can come out, regardless of how hard you train or if you just want to come out and have fun. It's a spectator sport, so wherever you are, if you look around here today, you can see riders almost around the whole course from one point," said Colby Lash, UPCROSS.
The course was designed by Danny Hill of Ishpeming. He said most of the course designs come from past races he participated in.
The next race will be in Harvey on November 23.
