Dancing With the Stars Marquette County Style is entering its second year and Tuesday, we got a look at who will be competing for the mirrored ball trophy. Local celebrities and community leaders have been partnered up with dance instructors, and in May they'll hit the stage and show off their moves.
This year's stars are Christine Pesola and Joe Heck, Tyler and Erin Gauthier, Stephanie Zadroga-Langlois and Andy Langlois, Tyler Jenema and Monica Markvardsen, Jack and Kim Frost, Jennifer Huetter and Reed Benton, Julie Shaw and Jeremy Hosking and Phil and Britta Pennell.
The dancers will be working for your vote, and each vote will help raise money for the Upper Peninsula Hospice Foundation. With the success of last year's event, organizers say they're up to the challenge of making things bigger and better.
"Actually I knew the second I left the Forest Roberts Theatre last year how we were going to top it for this year and every year after that," said Event Coordinator Lindsay Hemmila. "This year you'll see a few different things happening on stage, so this year is proving definitely to be bigger and better, and we kind of have the tag line: We're back...the stars, the drama, the glitter, and the glamour."
Dance styles include Hip-Hop, the Charleston, Jazz and the Hustle. Last year the Dancing With the Stars event raised more than $30,000 for the Hospice Foundation.
