      Dangerous currents cause beach closures

Dangerous rip and channel currents along the Lake Superior coastline prompted a closure of beaches in the City of Marquette on Friday, according to officials.

The Marquette Fire Department released a statement on Friday afternoon regarding strong currents along the Lake Superior shoreline. Authorities said that the beaches will be closed to swimming until weather and water conditions allow for safe recreational usage.
