Deal reached in Alger Delta Cooperative contract dispute

There is an agreement between the Alger Delta Cooperative and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 876. That's according to a press release from the cooperative. The tentative agreement was reached early Friday morning after a long collective bargaining session. Workers had been on strike for three weeks. If ratified by both the Union and Board work will resume Monday July 28.

The proposed contract would be retroactive to January 1, 2014 and go through November 30, 2015. It calls for wage increases both years. Also, a change from the traditional Blue Cross-Blue Shield insurance coverage to a Health Savings Account plan. This would include an employer contribution. A Health Insurance Committee with representatives of labor and management would be formed to help avoid future deadlocks.
