Dinner to be held for mother, cancer victim

Losing someone to cancer can be one of the toughest things in anyone's life.

When the disease strikes close to home, families are left with a void. That's why friends of one Negaunee family are doing their part to help heal the loss.

Sara Dove, who was 27 years old and a mother of five, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2009.

In December, she and her family learned the cancer had spread to her brain, liver, and bones. She lost her battle a few short weeks later.

We have interviewed her several times in past about childcare and her day care.

Sara spent her days as an at-home mother taking care of the children she loved so much.

Her husband, Justin, and family are holding a spaghetti dinner in honor of the woman who touched the lives of so many.

"She meant so much to so many people," said Justin. "She did such a wonderful job helping others, going out of her way even if she didn't have the time, or the money, or anything. She would do what she could to help somebody else out and she is very, very well missed."

The benefit will take place this Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Negaunee Township Community Center on M-35.

Money raised will go to offset medical costs and establish college funds for their kids.
