The Library of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources have teamed up to make park passes accessible to all. It's through a program called Michigan's Big Green Gym. At the Dickinson County Library, cardholders can receive a free one-day recreation passport. A recreation passport allows people to visit any one of Michigan's 102 state parks.
"Last year it was only good for seven days after you picked it up," says Kim Haevers, library employee. "Now, it's good any one day from now until September 30."
Michigan's Big Green Gym allows access to parks, as well as state forests and pathways.
