DNR to host bear hunting academy

The Department of Natural Resources is hosting a bear hunting academy this weekend in Escanaba.

Representatives from the wildlife division will be in attendance to help educate people on bear hunting. The free class will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Pocket Park. The day will be divided into three sessions: bear habits, proper technique for bear hunting on public land and the legal side of what you can and cannot do when hunting.

??It goes back to customer service and we have a great deal of attention focused on hunting, fishing and recreation in general?? said Greg Andrews, special projects liaison for the DNR. ??We want to showcase the assets we have and the opportunities we have.??

The class can host around thirty people and does not require preregistration. The day will be mostly interactive with many opportunities for question and answer sessions.
