Donations needed for Salvation Army Tools for Schools program

The Salvation Army in Ishpeming is in need of backpacks for the "Tools for Schools" program. Each donated backpack is filled with school supplies and then given to students in need.

Last year 250 students were in need of backpacks. The deadline to sign up for school supplies is August 14.

"We go to all the grades, K-12. We want to make sure that no matter what grade they're in, if they need a backpack and can't get it, that they're able to get it. Backpacks are the thing that we always struggle with and don't have enough of. That's the most expensive part of the school supplies," said Stephen Hansen, Corps Officer.

The Salvation Army has been donating backpacks to students in need for over 20 years.
