Econofoods issues statement on data breach

If you shopped at Econofoods in Marquette between January 8 and February 17, you might want to review your bank statements. Your credit card and debit card information may have been compromised.

Store officials say individual card numbers and expiration dates may have been accessed by an unauthorized person. No identifying personal information was obtained.

Authorities, banks, and credit card companies have already been notified, and security upgrades have been implemented at the store. Store officials say shoppers choose Econofoods because of their trust.

In a written statement, President Mike Tadych said:

"We have worked hard to earn that trust and will continue to do so by maintaining the security of our payment systems. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
