Over $16,000. That's how much was appropriated to the Delta County Economic Development Alliance at the Escanaba City Council meeting on Thursday.
The EDA uses this funding to promote economic development in the city of Escanaba and throughout Delta County.
They are the single source for business expansion. They work with companies, such as OSF Saint Francis Hospital, New Page and Bell's Upper Hand Brewery.
According to Michigan Works!, the EDA has created over 700 jobs in Delta County.
An economic development alliance member spoke to the council.
"I'm amazed that with such a very limited staff and limited budget we're able to accomplish so much. The future has lots of potential. I have never seen such a bright future for Delta County."
The annual appropriation motion was approved by a unanimous vote.
