Edsel Ford II visits Marquette for Model A Convention

Edsel Ford II has made his way to Marquette Friday evening to help wrap up the Model A Ford Club of America's 2012 Convention.

Edsel Ford II is the great grandson of Henry Ford and grandson of Edsel Ford I, chief designer of the Model A. Ford gave autographs to Model A owners and met with Marquette Mayor John Kivela in front of the 20 millionth Ford ever built. The Model A Convention ends Friday night with a large banquet dinner at the Superior Dome. Ford was asked to be a speaker for the closing event.

"I understand the City of Marquette has turned out in force to greet all these owners, which I think is terrific. These people care a lot about what they do and the cars they own, so it's a real treat for me personally to be here," said Ford, one of the members of the Board of Directors for Ford Motor Company.

This is Ford's first visit to the U.P. He plans to stay and see more of the Model As and do some sightseeing before he leaves.
