The Dickinson County Sheriff's Department took an 87-year-old man into custody after authorities say he was fleeing from police and driving on a suspended license.
The sheriff's department received a call at around 8 a.m. on Monday regarding an individual that allegedly made threats to employees at Edwards Chevrolet on Saturday and Monday. Authorities say that the call indicated that the man, identified as Donald Ray Lafountain, was headed to Edwards Chevrolet from Crystal Falls.
The sheriff's department reported that a deputy attempted a traffic stop on M-95, but Lafountain refused to stop. He then attempted to ram another deputy's vehicle as he turned on to US-2, according to authorities. They added that Lafountain attempted to ram an Iron Mountain Police car as well.
When his vehicle reached Edwards Chevrolet, he was blocked from entering the parking lot and taken into custody after exiting his vehicle. The sheriff's department said that Lafountain was arrested and is facing charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting a police officer, and driving on a suspended license.
The Dickinson County Sheriff's Department is still investigating this incident.
