Sunday, Escanaba received about three inches of water throughout the morning and afternoon. With that storm came a bit of flooding.
On Lincoln Road near the Ludington Street intersection the water was up to some cars?? bumpers. The Delta County Road commission said this is an ongoing issue. It is caused by a lot of intersecting streets coming together in that area. They said during storms like the one Sunday, there is just too much water flowing for the storm sewers to handle. They do not foresee the problem being fixed in the near future.
??To cure this issue would be pretty extensive,?? said Delta County Road Commission manager Jody Norman. ??You??re talking about redoing the whole main sewer line system, storm sewer system from one end to the other and that??s a pretty extensive project.??
The area typically floods two to three times a year depending on rainfall.
