Escanaba hopes to tackle hunger with help from Packers

In an attempt to raise awareness and stock the local food pantries, the Escanaba Department of Public Safety is teaming up with the Packers.

For the cost of just a few non-perishable food items, you can get an autograph from offensive guard and tackle Don Barclay.

During the school year many of our community's kids are on a free lunch schedule. In the summer, their families may have a hard time feeding them three meals a day.

This is why public safety is hoping to fill an entire trailer with nonperishable food items.

"We encourage everyone to come out, the more the merrier. The more people we get to come through, the more food we get to put in the trailer," says Escanaba Public Safety Captain Jamie Segorski. "So, we're excited about the opportunity. It's taken a lot of planning."

Help Public Safety 'tackle hunger' this Wednesday at Elmer's County Market from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
