Escanaba is now set to host the 55th annual National Trappers Convention next month.
The three-day-long event is all about trapping and predator calling. However, anyone who loves the outdoors will find something to enjoy. Bear, hunting, and fishing guides are all expected to come down from Canada.
There will also be crafters, quilters, antique dealers and more.
"It normally floats all along the Midwest," says Upper Peninsula Trappers President Roy Dahlgren. "At first they didn't think we were a big enough town to have it here, being that we're here in the U.P. The last time it was in the U.P. was in 1973, I believe."
Organizers are hoping to break an all-time attendance record. In fact, 8,000 to 10,000 people are expected to attend the event with folks confirmed from 48 states.
Mark your calendars for July 24 to July 27.
