Sun, 04 Aug 2013 00:45:13 GMT — A "Party for the Cure" event was held Saturday at Marquette's Lower Harbor to help raise money and bring awareness to leukemia and lymphoma. Don Maki was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma last January. He's been cancer free for a year and after his recovery, Maki decided to put on an event to support those suffering from the same type of blood disorder. "The goal is ultimately a cure. I want people to understand that the most frequent cancer affecting people under 20 years of age is leukemia. We really need to keep working towards it to find that cure," said Maki. The "Party for the Cure" event offered music and food to the 200 people who purchased tickets.
