Copper Country Autism Awareness will be holding its second annual Family Fun Day this Saturday for families affected by autism spectrum disorder.
The free family fun day is open to all families and will take place at Houghton Elementary School from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be games, face painting, bounce houses, a rock wall, and prizes for children and their families to enjoy.
The event was funded by the Copper Country Elks Lodge in Calumet. CCAA founders say they each have grandchildren with autism and they feel it's important for families to know they have a support group.
"When you have a child on the autism spectrum, it's very hard sometimes to go out with your family and enjoy an occasion," said CCAA co-founder Kathe Lanctot. "We see the difficulties of families, and so we wanted to be able to try to make it a little easier for the families."
