Imagine losing everything and having to rebuild from scratch. That's the unfortunate reality of a couple in Ishpeming.
Bill and Kathy Hager are picking up the remaining pieces of their home after a fire destroyed it late Saturday night. If that isn't bad enough, the couple's home insurance expired on July 2.
They were about to sign another policy Monday, the day after their home burned to the ground.
"You can either feel sorry for yourself or pick up the pieces and move on, and, of course, with no insurance, it's difficult decisions ahead," said Bill Hager.
Neighbors say the two constantly help their community by volunteering and say now it's the Hager family in need of support. A Facebook page and Wells Fargo account have been set up to collect physical and monetary donations.
