Four years ago, a local 14-year-old boy passed away due to complications with his autism.
Now, his family is creating awareness and providing support for other families with disabled children. The family of Niles Hiltunen was devastated when his young life ended, but they realized other families still deal with disabilities and may need help.
The Niles Fund was created to offer financial support to families with special needs. This weekend, they will be at the fairgrounds in Norway for the horse show, working at the food booth to raise money. Many businesses have donated food items for the cause.
â??Our benefit really is supported by area businesses that know the mission of giving random acts of kindness donations to families still living with special needs,â?? said Nilesâ?? mother, Grace Michaud.
All the proceeds from the food booth will benefit the fund, but if you would like to make a direct financial donation, you may visit the First National Bank in Iron Mountain and ask to donate to the Niles Hiltunen Memorial Family Support Fund Benefit.
