      Faster emergency response?

Things were heating up at the Chassell Fire Department Saturday, but it wasn't because of a fire.

The volunteer firefighters and first responders had a ribbon cutting to celebrate their new fire hall.

The department says the voters passed a millage giving them the funding to afford the new building which will help enhance their response time.

"When we get calls, we'd have to come down here, brush off the trucks, scrape the ice off the windshield, and warm them up before we could even respond to an accident or medical emergency," explained Derrick Verran, Director of First Responders.

The Chassell Fire Department said their next purchase will be new protective gear for firefighters and equipment for the them and first responders.
