      Fatal shooting in Marquette

A Marquette shooting in an apartment building on West Ridge Street left one dead, one hospitalized and one jailed on Wednesday. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler John Wolf, hasn't been in the Marquette area that long, but now find himself behind bars, according to the Marquette City Police Department.

"I heard that this kind of thing didn't really happen here, so I was very shocked," said West Ridge resident Michelle Taylor. "This is a very tight knit community."

Wolf's alleged gunshots hit 23-year-old West Ridge tenant Rayan Zimmerman in the leg, and killed 49-year-old John Adam Bradbury of Marquette.

So what did residents in the building experience?

"Really, the only thing I heard was yelling," Taylor said. "I heard a loud bang, but I just assumed it was someone throwing something against the wall. I certainly did not expect it to be a shooting."

It didn't take long to locate and capture Wolf, according to officials. Police found him about an hour after the incident in a car across the street.

It was not long into the investigation before police discovered a meth lab at the apartment, which didn't surprise officials.

"When you have narcotics like meth and crack cocaine and the heavier narcotics in the community, and the more of it there is the more propensity there is for these kinds of crimes," said Marquette City Police Detective Captain Gordie Warchock.

As the investigation continued into Wednesday evening, Wolf was held at the Marquette County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.

As for the victims, Zimmerman is recovering from emergency surgery at Marquette General Hospital, and an autopsy is expected to be performed on the body of Bradbury in the next few days.
