The fifth annual Marquette Marathon and Half Marathon will look a little different this year.
For the first time, the course will be point to point starting in Ishpeming and ending in Marquette. The race is on Labor Day weekend, and more than 830 people are already signed up for the three events. The Marquette Marathon is one of the last chances to quality for the 2015 Boston Marathon.
"This course, with the downhill nature of it, let gravity be your friend, come out and try it," says race director Jeri Mommaerts. "It's a fantastic course; it is partly shaded. We have everything from crushed granite to pavement, plus with all of the community support and it's just a fun weekend."
Registration is open online until next Wednesday or in person at the Race Expo on August 29.
