A television legend at TV6 and across the UP has received an international recognition.
Carl Pellonpaa has been given the John Morton award for his work hosting 50 years of Finland Calling, which airs Sunday mornings on TV6. The award is named after John Morton who signed the Declaration of Independence
The Institute of Migration in Finland sponsors the award, which comes with a $2,600 prize and a diploma of recognition.
"It's a wonderful surprise, my goodness!," exclaimed Pellonpaa. "To be recognized by an institution like the Institute of Migration, it's awesome. It's just a wonderful feeling to be recognized for hosting a show for 50 years."
Finland Calling launched back in March of 1962 and has since remained the longest running Finnish language show in television history.
Carl says he's looking forward to many more years on the air.
