      Fire causes Peninsula Medical Center evacuation

      A fire in the basement of the Peninsula Medical Center in Marquette has caused its evacuation.

      The Marquette City Fire Department says that the fire occurred in a basement level records storage area. Two sprinkler heads were activated due to the fire and firefighters were able to enter the room and extinguish the blaze.

      According to officials, the building was evacuated and employees and patients were not be permitted back into the building until noon. A Marquette General Hospital spokesperson said that some clinics will remain closed until Friday morning.

      The Marquette City Fire Department had crews at the scene. MGH EMS also assisted at the scene.
