The Bootjack Fire and Rescue near Lake Linden is having a chicken barbeque this Saturday to raise money for the first responders unit.
The Bootjack Fire and Rescue team is all run and operated by volunteers in the community. Their operation works mostly by donations but also from a small budget from the Torch Lake Township.
The money will raise funds for any medical equipment the first responders need, like oxygen tanks and bandages. First responder Todd Sarazin says the community has always been a great supporter of the organization and hopes it will continue.
"The economy today, you have to be aggressive, you have to go out, and you have to have multiple fundraisers," said Sarazin. "We have a spectacular community and spectacular support."
The barbeque will be this Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Bootjack Fire Hall.
