Fifteen news outlets from across Upper Michigan gathered at the First Presbyterian Church in Marquette Thursday for the 17th Annual Good News Awards.
Religious leaders from local churches honored the work media outlets do in publicizing good news happening in their communities.
Awards were given out in several categories like straight news story, feature story, and community involvement.
"As heads of different churches in the area we're very thankful for the media and the way that they help to tell good news stories and the stories that affect all of our daily lives and lift us up and encourage us as human beings," says Elbert Dulworth of the United Methodist Church.
TV6 won awards for straight news, a feature on Brittany Macstrom's story, editorial for the 'UPside's 31 Backpacks,' public service announcement, and community involvement for 'Upper Michigan Someplace Special' campaign.
