The first ever Upper Peninsula Community Band Festival is coming to Marquette Saturday!
About 70 band enthusiasts from all over the U.P., and even out of state, came together Friday night for their first and only rehearsal in preparation.
Members from the Marquette City Band, the Negaunee City Band, and other individuals from all over the country will perform music together.
The concert will take place at the Presque Isle Band Shell this Saturday at 7p.m.
And it was all made possible by a grant from the Marquette Community Fund.
"There will be a portion of that concert which will be Negaunee City Band. Then the Marquette City Band will play. And then this festival band will conclude the concert," said Ben Bohnsack, President of the Marquette City Band Board of Directors.
"We have a family of five that's participating. We have husband and wife teams. We have a father daughter combination. It's just terrific to bring people together to play music," said Steve Grugin, Director of the Marquette City Band.
Everyone is invited to attend the free concert.
Those who attend are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to sit on.
