A new kind of festival is making its debut in Iron Mountain this Saturday at the bottom of the Pine Mountain ski jump. Its purpose: to help veterans on their road to recovery.
Many veterans are struggling with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and other combat-related issues. Thatâ??s why the first Veteran Recovery Festival is happening this Saturday, as a way to come alongside veterans as they work through this recovery.
â??Weâ??ve invited approximately 15 to 20 veterans that are struggling with their recovery, to showcase their art,â?? said Dickinson County Veteranâ??s Affair officer, Chuck Lantz. â??They will be able to display their art, as well as sell their art for profit.â??
The festival will feature music by Jason Moon, an Iraq combat veteran, and Vietnam-veteran Lem Genovese. Gates open at 11 a.m. on August 24. Food and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available.
