The Trap Rock River valley area is under a flood warning as of Friday morning when the river exceeded flood stage after Thursday night's thunderstorm.
The river was measured at 10.8 feet early Friday morning, but has since gone down a few inches. Water is flowing over the road in some places, especially on Angman Road.
The Tobacco River in Gay is also flooding and has run over Mohawk-Gay Road, which is reduced to one lane of traffic now.
â??You can see that sometime last night or early this morning where they had been really ripping, and now, that looks like it has decreased,â?? said Houghton and Keweenaw Counties emergency manager, Jack Dueweke. â??So, I'm hopeful that soon-- sooner than later-- the Trap Rock will go down.â??
County officials say drivers should take caution in Keweenaw County as well, as water sometimes flows over the roads up north.
They say despite the flooding conditions, the waterfalls that are produced can be a spectacular sight to see.
