Mon, 16 Sep 2013 05:26:54 GMT — Hundreds of families stopped by the Ford Airport in Kingsford Saturday for some fun on the ground and in the air. It was the 12th annual Ford Airport Day. The family-friendly event offers free Young Eagles flights for kids. This year's theme was "The Year of Air Medical Transport," which showcased several planes used for transporting those in need of medical care. The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 439 organizes the event. There was also food, games, and a car show for those interested in keeping their feet on the ground, but for many youngsters, the flights were the big attraction. "I saw my dad's house, I saw my where dad's girlfriend works, and I saw my school... It was really good, and it was bumpy, very bumpy," said nine-year-old Danika Varda of Quinnesec. Organizers estimate about 1,500 people came to the event.
