      Former Forsyth Township employees face embezzlement charges

      Two cases of alleged embezzlement are being investigated in Forsyth T ownship.

      The first case involves Christina Kay Denessen, 43, of Gwinn. She's a former secretary-office employee in the Forsyth Township office. Denessen is charged with a felony, embezzlement between $1,000 and $20,000. According to the Michigan State Police investigation, the embezzlement happened between July and D ecember of last year.

      There's no word on the exact amount of money allegedly taken. Denessen is free on bond. She stood mute in court, and a not guilty plea was entered on her behalf. Her next court appearance is June 27. A second embezzlement case involves an individual that had worked temporarily in the Forsyth Township assessor's office. That investigation is in the early stages.
