A former Kincheloe resident has been charged for alleged molestation of a minor.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles has formally charged 61-year-old Tommy Alan Cain with five counts of sexual abuse by threat, one count of abusive sexual contact by threat and six counts of sexual abuse of a minor. The alleged incidents occurred over a four-year period beginning in 2007 on the trust lands of Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Cain was arrested Thursday in Battle Creek. Following his appearance in federal court, he was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending a hearing next week on whether he should be released on bond or detained pending his trial.
These charges came as a result of an investigation conducted by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Police in conjunction with the Marquette office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Each count of sexual abuse by threat carries a maximum sentence of life.
