Forsyth Township home destroyed by fire

A fire broke out at a home in Forsyth Township Friday afternoon.

Three people and an infant were in the apartment at the time, but escaped unharmed. Forsyth Township Firefighters were able to rescue two dogs from one of the units. One dog did die in the fire.

The cause is still under investigation. Officials however, did say it looks electrical in origin stemming from an air conditioning unit.

One person who lives next door was treated for smoke inhalation. Officials received a call at 11:10 a.m. and responded to the scene.

The Forsyth Township Fire Department has contacted the Pigs-N-Heat and the American Red Cross to assist the residents of both apartments.
