Four-year-old cancer survivor tees off at golf fundraiser

Red Fox Run Golf Course in Gwinn was the site for a golf fundraiser in honor of four-year-old Ainsley Kargela, daughter of the club's golf pro, Dennis Kargela.

Ainsley was diagnosed with a tissue cancer last October, which caused her to need multiple surgeries to remove tumors in her jaw.

Ainsley got to hit the first tee ball of the day.

Community members decided to show support to the Karglea family who made 24 trips to Detroit and a final trip to Toronto for Ainsley's chemotherapy and surgery.

The outpouring of support has been beyond expectation.

"At first we thought, we'd get together maybe 10-15 teams. Here we are today, July 25th and we have 40 teams, 160 people, 23 sponsors from around the community. It has just been overwhelming. It just makes my heart feel so good" says the club's general manager, Gene Parlato.

Ainsley also expressed her gratitude to everyone who attended, "Thank you to everybody that's here."

Parlato estimates today's events raised closed to $8,000.

      Ainsley's cancer is in remission.
