Fourteen flags reported stolen from Marquette streets

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority is looking for several stolen flags.

Fourteen flags were stolen form the streets last Thursday. The DDA puts the flags out to celebrate important events at Northern Michigan University, like the start of a new semester, homecoming and graduation. The flags are usually put up along Front, Washington, and Third street. The cost of the stolen flags amounts to roughly $1,000 dollars for the DDA.

"They are meant to be able to celebrate that we have Northern Michigan University in our community, that we're proud of Northern Michigan University and it's unfortunate that we are unable to do that."

The DDA is working with police to get the flags back.

If you have any information on the missing flags, contact the DDA at (906) 228-9475.
