Fox Motors in Marquette partnered with the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter for their annual Collars for a Cause adoption event Wednesday afternoon.
Animals from UPAWS were on hand for adoptions, with all fees being picked up by Fox Motors. Rabbits, dogs, cats and kittens were all available to take home. The event helps UPAWS with overcrowding during the summer months.
"We're very, very full; we have cats and kittens and dogs and bunnies and pet rats," says Ann Brownell of UPAWS. "At this time of year especially, in the middle of summer, Collars for a Cause is held in August for us and it helps immensely reduce our numbers and get these animals into loving homes."
Collars for a Cause ran from noon to 6 p.m. Last year they had 47 adoptions during the event; this year they hope for 50.
