The first weekend in June is an ideal time for residents and visitors to explore Michigan while saving some cash. June 7-8 is both the free fishing weekend, as well as the free ORV weekend.
For those looking to go fishing license fees will be waived. There are several events planned for anglers of all ages on both the inland and Great Lakes. The free weekend includes all species of fish, however fishing regulations still apply. Many communities across Michigan have special events planned to encourage people to try their hand at fishing.
On the trails, no permits or licenses are needed for ORV operators. There are a few rules that still apply. Riders under the age of 16 must have a valid safety training certificate. You must also wear helmets and eye protection. For the full list of regulations and rules, click here.
