It's not going to be traditional blues. The Freezin' Rain concert will be a night of upbeat '50s, '60s, Blues and rock featuring Laura Rain and the Caesars from Detroit.
"Laura is an electrifying performer. In fact, that's the name of her CD; it's called Electrified. She's a great performer, puts on a great show. They were here last year for the Friday free show of the Blues Fest. They put on a great show," said Mark Hamari, Marquette Area Blues Society.
Marquette's very own George Friend will playing guitar with Laura Rain and the Caesars. Also playing that night from Marquette, The Flat Broke Blues Band and Travis Swanson and the Midnight Movers.
It's all to raise funds for their educational outreach programs. They are hoping to raise $5,000.
"Goes towards our Blues Day Tuesday programs that we have at the library every month. It goes to the workshops that we put on around town. It goes towards the community concerts we put on," said Terry Klavitter, Marquette Area Blues Society.
It also helps support the NMU Blues club. The organization hopes to stir up interest in younger generations.
It's happening Thursday at the Marquette Elks Lodge at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $5.
