Frisbee tournament brings weekend of entertainment

The annual Guts Frisbee tournament is this weekend at Tourist Park and organizers are hoping to draw a big crowd.

The tournament features 17 teams competing for the National Championship. Two teams stand about 45 feet apart and take turns whizzing a frisbee at the other team. The goal is to catch it one-handed.

In addition to the tournament, organizers have lined up a free concert. They say it's a weekend of free fun and entertainment.

"It's really one of the most exciting sports to watch, I'm a fanatic," says Guts tournament director Kurt Lahtinen. "I really like all sports and there's action on every play, so every 15 seconds you either see a brilliant 80 mile an hour throw go past somebody or you see somebody get their hand on an 80 mile an hour throw and they actually catch it. It's just fantastic."

The tournament begins Saturday at 10 a.m. and goes until dusk. The final games run Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both days will be at Tourist Park in Marquette.
