Fundraiser offers a fun night filled with beer and music

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter has a new fundraiser aimed at a younger crowd, and they're calling it the Hillbilly Dance Party.

On April 14 at the Ore Dock Brewery, UPAWS is asking for a $5 donation at the door which will get you a chance to enjoy three live bands and the local beers crafted at the Ore Dock. Bands performing include the Bad Luck Lullabies and Trailer Hitch.

"Taking care of over 1,600 animals a year adds up. We all know that pets can be expensive sometimes, and we have a lot of pets here at UPAWS, so this event is just one more way to really support what we're trying to do," said UPAWS Manager Lareina Van Strien. "There's going to be some great music--we're going to have three different bands, so it's going to be a really fun event."

All donations go to help UPAWS with the cost of sheltering their animals. The Hillbilly Dance Party is an all ages event, however, you must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol. The party is from 6 to 10 p.m.
