The Keweenaw Storm 19U girls hockey team is on their way to San Jose, California for the national tournament on April 3.
The team has been raising money to fund the trip by bagging groceries at Econo Foods in Houghton. One percent of each receipt donated by customers will go to the team.
The team beat Marquette in the state championship, 3-2, which qualified them for nationals.
The girls say they are proud to be going to nationals and hope to bring home a win.
"It's really exciting," said Kenna Farrey. "Like, we've been working at this for four years now. So, hopefully we can take it all away this year."
"It's just a super great experience, and it's so exciting to know that our hockey team was that good to make it that far," said Mackenzie Hietala.
The tournament goes from April 4-7.
The team left for California Saturday.
