The 32nd annual Big Brother Big Sister â??Go Bigâ?? run was Saturday morning in Downtown Negaunee.
The 10K run and two-mile fun run or walk started by the senior center and almost 200 people followed the paved Heritage Trail. The Big Brother Big Sister program in Negaunee has been around for 45 years and all of the funds raised will help with the Community-Based Mentoring Program.
â??Every kid needs a friendâ?? said Gary Perala, a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters. â??Every kid needs somebody and a mentor. It is neat to be a part of something where all the money and our efforts go into helping our community and helping our kids and strengthening our kids.â??
The Big Brother Big Sister run is the biggest event that the program puts on every year. Awards were presented at the post race celebration and the Pioneer Days parade immediately followed. Big Brothers Big Sisters served as this yearâ??s Grand Marshal.
